how come not a peep out of anyone,(good or bad)post island classic review?,i had fun (while it lasted)fridays qualifying i made it to honda corner 3 times, sat's racing i finished both races,(just),done l/h exhaust rocker in last lap,so nonstarter sunday ,noticed high attrition rate among my fellow pitmen(10 out of possible 15 trailerised by sunday arvo)team glam from England had some really high standards of machinery, pretty trick stuff,(still got flogged but),std looking darmah gave them headaches on occasions ,not too many webtarts surfaced ,Ben,Bennelli Steve from Qlds,Keith,(slowly running out of rides)Campbell, lots of people walking around pits, not too many spectators, spread pretty thin around the circuit,so i guess it was up to usual standards, fun as usual, poor poms had a alcohol/curfew ban till end of conflict(last race?)probably made up for it sundy nite, (although i had a few drinks satnite with two,who somehow got lost looking for penguins,& had originally asked for more directions in the pub?)so all in all,was ok,no speeding fines yet,(12hrs on sesame street, aka Hume?)

Made all the arrangements to get down to PI so I could do a report and post it here, but did not get back to Melbourne until mid morning Saturday from Tas (was only asked the day before I went if I could go), then the wife had problems with her car over the other side of town and was late by the time we got that fixed.
Sunday was spent with a catch up on sleep from the trip from Tas (to long drinking at night), then when I did wake up, it was in the afternoon so knew it would be a waste driving an hour and a half, which would just make it for closing time.
I was so annoyed that I missed the week-end. So if anyone wants to do a report on the week-end, please do so. And if you have some pictures, please send them in or post them in the You must be logged in to see this link.

Rick Zak's Darmah is a bit of a sleeper, would have used more front tyre at the Island than he ever does at home. There are 5 pages of photo's and a short report at
www.mcnews.com.au
in the late breaking news link on the home page, I haven't had word from our local guys yet (shed 38 I think), they are probably still sleeping it off. |

What a great race track and a well run event ,even though i was spitting chips at having to get a scrutineering form from the control tower friday morning. had a strange thing on my first practice the front tyre lost all pressure braking into honda and caused the front to tuck under and sending me flying and grinding my new boyer ignition into the tar. Got it all going again and had a ball. Simon decked his honda in his last race , so we both drove home with damage. Special mention, Dave beter known as Murrays boy, you are a star Hudo |

if people dont actually go to these race meetings, it's hard for them to comment on them.. bit dissapointed than few of the regular contributers to this forum managed to even go. but then again this wasn't the championship meeting and we get so many races in vic all held too close together anyway. who can afford to do them all?
i saw some 'poetic justice' delt out concerning a few ineligible (in my opinion) bikes as refered too in this forum. plus i think i saw snoozer with a carry bag full of anti-MA retoric, and HE was busy sticking them to the walls of the guys toilets all weekend ... i really loved the Hawian shirt dude... or did i see Mr Snoozer ?? not really the way to start a revolution my friend, what you need to organise is "the night of the long blades" to clean house once and for all...

There are those who do, those who used to do and those who never did.. why is this 3rd group always trying to convince everyone they know best? |

Hi All A comment or may be in hand!! G'day Mick nice to catch up!! Hows the Tragady Van going I mean Transit Van ha ha. From Qld 16 bikes one container & they charged us for 2 sheds but only 1 was avaiable so we bummed a few more places in the other people who done the long haul from Qld. We had bikes dropping like flies (Queensland talk)It seemed like every time the pick up truck came back it dropped off more bikes every practice & race when it was getting to a few bikes in the same race (oil) from broken gearboxes to chewed up pistons broken axles belts a plenty etc it was getting a bit sus maybe "Sabotage" maybe those YSS girlies blinded the old fellows or the Topless photo shoot on Thrusday Afternoon when we were unloading??? but all in all had a ball the Benelli went home a bit lighter with only 1 piston left so that blows Eastern Creek bummer!!anyone got a spare bike??? I'll look after it I promise! Now Hunter you have the facts crossed with snoozer!! the fellow posting the info sheets was from Qld abit pissed off for his log book "app" got knocked back on a swingarm on his Forgotten Era bike!! I'm could understand as there were the same swingarm "mod" on ALL other bikes in his class! even the bike checkers said well ok the other bikes in his class had the same "Swingarm" but not his bike!! OK because MA said so "SO THERE" I could see his point if everyone has done it why not let me, I race in Post Classic so I could understand where he is coming from when did those Honda 4s get rear disc brakes?? triple disc on a Truimph & Suzuki I dont care I run all drums anyhow & the scream you hear when I out brake them is not the brakes it's me screaming stop!! but you get that I suppose any way had a ball drank too much, meet some nice people & broke my bike again!! until next time folks Steve Queensland |

Well with no sidecars I went and dis a coaching course with MV that weekend. But a few reports have dribbled in, the most interesting being the poster campaign about MA. |

Gday all yes i did run out of Hondas but not the 500's . Left cylinder piston broke as well as the liner valves bent rod on the cb77.Ed's p/c siezed a cam bush on friday. The 500 ESO ran well but just couldn't get it off the line all weekend...bigger clutch springs going in for sure. I had a "moment" in Sunday's 2nd 500 race at the scene of last years crash and ended up running wide at turn 9 and taking someone else out also...both remained upright though and rejoined the race.1000 apoligies in pits afterwards. As usual, ate and drank well and had a great time amongst the "fraternity". The international challenge was a pleasure to behold with local charger Stuart Loly showing all how to lap the Island at a furious pace when the throttle cable isn't broke. The Irving Vincent showed what a turn of speed it is certainly capable of down Gardiner straight. The Marshalls and recovery vehicle was kept very busy in the rainy conditions on saturday, thanks for the lift guys after my excursion out of 3rd in the 350 classic race, bugger. Sunday saw blue sky and slight breeze making for a much better spectator experience.I reckon there was a fairly good crowd on Sunday lining Gardiner straight most of the way down to turn 2. Hope to see more of you all at Broadford in March.

my apology's to snoozer then for the mistaken sighting. that guy sure came prepared with his material and i did like his shirt too... there were a few guys wandering around the pits telling storys about having log books rejected for various reasons. i think there was a few 1000 spectators there on sunday, seemed like a good crowd. |

I was at the Island too, havent had that much pleasure over three days since me honeymoon.Didn't quite catch the scoring method for the big race that I hear we won.can anyone enlighten me. Pitty we didn't send some information to the pommie web site regarding our own big guns.It appeared as if we didn't realy care about the event. If we want motorcycle racing to prosper we must contribute to the promoton of the sport.
