I will start it off if no one else wants to. This is my own personal view so I expect to be corrected which will not concern me one little bit.

The meeting was well represented by what seemed to be a reasonable cross section of competitors entrants and promoters, it was run by David White who kept control without restricting comments unfairly. We were all invited to express our concerns and from that the five most subjects commented on where discussed further. In short the outcome was the abandonment of the Philosophy, any major rule changes to be deferred until 2008 and the decisions on changes to be discussed and published by the end of 2006 giving a lead in time of one year there will be a data base set up of allowable modifications and components in order to assist future builders of machines, communications are to be improved however it is quite obvious that the major breakdown is with our State bodies and our Clubs, future National Titles were also discussed and contrary to rumour will continue and the method of allocation will be looked at along with other criteria to try to make them more consistent. One bonus that came out of the meeting was the decision to convene a meeting of the new Commissioners in the near future which should help them to start work on the results of this forum.
All in all a well run meeting with fair support and very well conducted and controlled discussion. Not one person was pulled up for being out of order and the outcomes were at least as good as I personally expected and probably better. One disappointment for me was the non attendance of various people who make a lot of noise but dont front when the opportunity is there for them to make a serious contribution.
I hope my comments are accurate but am sure that some one will correct me if I have made a boo boo.

It sounds like it all went well. I was very disappointed that I could not attend, and I know Allan was also disappointed that he could not attend.

I hope that MA does keep to their word and all goes well.

It bewilders me to have put up with all this panic driven crap on doom and ruination of the sport when all it takes is to sit down and talk about things to let common sense rule. I thank all who made the effort to attend the meeting and at some considerable cost to their motorcycling budget i would expect. Our sport is in good hands when those directly participating have an opportunity to have input and are willing to use that opportunity, i feel embarrased that i did not go. Well done . Hudo

Gosh, a week has already gone since the MA meeting. Yes it was good. Eveyone wore name tags, so what ever was said was not done hiding behind an alias [or a keyboard] A very well run meeting with everyone given a chance to express their view. It was surely evident that this meeting was not brought about by the racers. But instigated by the alias's and the keyboard cowards. But with the attendance of those who are active in Historic Racing and care for it I am glad it was. For it shown a united concern for the sport and the general move was to improve what we already had. I had to laugh though. We were all handed out an agenda of the day and copies of communications sent to MA regarding the meeting. One of which was a gentleman who refused to bring out his Period four Triton because of the fuel injected T Rex Honda's. Rex was at a loss too, but said if his had fuel injection could someone tell him where it was. And that what it is all about. Lack of communication and listening to rumours. Below is an email that was sent to all the Forum attendees from MA.

To Forum Attendees

As discussed on Saturday afternoon one could only come away from the Historic Road Racing forum with a positive outlook for the future. However the forum must be seen as the beginning of a commitment by all stakeholders and future development is going to be dependant upon cooperation and communication by all parties. I assure you that MA will do everything possible to continue the momentum initiated at last Saturday’s forum.

A report on Saturday’s meeting has been prepared and is attached. That report will be part of the agenda for the next MA Board meeting which is scheduled for 20 July. I will report to you on the outcomes of the presentation of the report to the MA Board.

Part of the discussion on Saturday was the need for an improvement in communication. We are commencing a database of email addresses for those interested in Historic Road Racing. If you wish to be on the database please confirm your email address to the office and advise your friends who did not attend the forum to do likewise. This should be confirmed to mail@ma.org.au

In relation to arranging an extraordinary meeting of the Historic Road Racing Commission I am pleased to confirm we are attempting to organise that meeting and hopefully it will be convened as soon as possible.

In relation to the database of allowable components John Daley is already working on the format of that database. Its establishment is going to require a considerable amount of effort and that can’t all happen from within the MA office. I ask you all to start thinking of components suitable for inclusion in the database and to get your preliminary list to the MA office by 31 July, 2005.

Once again thank you for you cooperation last Saturday. It was a very positive meeting.

DAVID WHITE

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

P.S. At one of the various chat groups that developed during the lunch break there was a gentlemen lamenting the demise of BSA Bantams in Historic Road Racing and was talking of the Harold Carter Special. Could that gentleman please contact me on (03) 9684 0500 or email dwhite@ma.org.au. I would like to discuss some ways of progressing the involvement of these once popular machines that formed such an important part of road racing in the 1950s and 1960s.
.....................................................................

I personally look forward to the future of Historic racing now all the 'Ghost's have been sent packing' Thank you John for taking on board the task of looking after the database of 'accepted components'
And yeah, lets dump the politics and get back to having some fun.

Thanks John, I was just taking a cheap snipe at the honda haters for fun, i wonder if any triton punters have shoehorned a set of those injectors on their mount , if so can they be disguised as well as the set Rex uses. Hudo
