Hi Gents,

Can anyone recommend a workshop to do general tuning work (carb rebuilds etc) on my 1970 CB350 twin? It's totally stock at the moment, running, but poorly on the left hand side cylinder. I suspect its the LHS carb diaphragm.

I'd prefer someone in South Melbourne, Port Melbourne or surrounding suburbs. Any suggestions of who I should ovoid are ok too...

Thanks in advance
Craig

I have two good CV carbs here, contact me by e-mail through the list and we'll sort a price (cheap as chips) and postage details.

Thanks gents,

Do you mean Ben as in "the saga" Ben for general work?

I agree the diaphragm carbs are past their use by date.

I've found a couple of mikuni 32mm round slides that I might use. (their from XL250's)@ $75 each they seem a good price.

Popeye, what are the carbs you have there? you can get me at craig_dot_whittingham_at_didata_dot_com_dot_au

P.S. I've done my email this way to stop spam bots that read forums.

Thanks
Craig

Haaa haaa, yeah - dont send it to me, I've got enough to do on mine! Seriously, the best thing you can do is head down to the Technical Book shop on Swanston st and order a workshop manual. If you just want to keep it in good order and not take the mods too far, this should work out well. Servicing and stock tuning is pretty straight forward if you have the tools.
I agree, you'll be much better off with the mikunis once you sort them out!

Thanks gents,

I'd prefer to do the work my self. (I've rebuilt a few toyota twincams in my time, as I used to be a car racing nut) so I'm totally happy with the work involved, but my real problem at the moment is a total lack of anywhere to work on the bugger. (no garage, not even a table to work on!! yes really!) the wonders of a the modern apartment eh. That and the missus would have a fit if the lounge started smelling of carb cleaner.... se la vi

Ben what front end did you end up running on the "saga"

Hiya Craig,

Sorry man, I didn't mean to be presumptuous! I used to have a lovely TA22 twin cam celica, loved it! Wish I had never sold it really....... Maybe we should all send our engines to you! (when you get a garage of course..). I ended up using a Suzuki T500 twin leading shoe front on CB350 forks. See how it goes, then maybe disk later.
Still not sure about where you can send your bike for general work..... do you have a friend with a garage you can leave it in?..Or, those plastic drop sheets could come in handy..........

Hey Ben, I had a TA22 as well, 2TG engine (taken out to 2.0L) with the Yamaha designed head and gear drive cams. I used to do sprints and hill climbs mostly. Back then the rotarys were kicking but in a straight line, but the old celica's could catch up in the twisty bits.

I have a garage about an hours drive away, which I could use in a pinch.....I'll have to think that one over. (or get a new place)
