As I said above I want to do the right thing, but at this stage am not really sure what the right thing is. i will attempt to find someone here who can tell me but in the meantime does someone have an opinion as to whether my bus would be called an 'appliance'? I certainly connect a cable to it on occasions. If it is considered to be an 'appliance' do I have to get it tagged too? Cheers Geoff Sidecar #30 |

Can somebody please answer a simple question.Where do i go to get my eltrical items checked and tagged?? No good moaning about it is here and will not go away so i better get things checked out, and move on,

Google for You must be logged in to see this link., yellow pages, go to the link I listed and I think I also said we would seek hlep on the matter and its effects. I have had racers contact me to offer help, I have looked into the cost of getting the testing equipment and have not had a chance to do much more today on it. I race to remember!
For those who think it is an unnecessary imposition I assune a reasonable person would look at all the leads across the groud in grass, over the floor of the pits with all sorts of equipment attached and they might say, " I hope it all works safely"
Yes it MAY BE DIFFICULT BUT IT ALSO MAY be achieve fairly easily.
It just takes time to sort it all out. |

Jason's comment about speeding in the pits is important. Tagging electrical cables is a minor issue. There are a lot of things which should be looked at in terms of the likelihood and consequences of various scenarios. |

Jason thanks for the observation about safety in the pits. the HMRAV actually has a saferty officer and the committee are constantly watching for unsafe matters. The fact you dont see anything ahppening is part of the plan. We dont want to creat a gestapo effect, offenders are quietly spoken to, kids have bikes confiscated until racing finishes. You may notice bikes are with drawn backin the sheds mysteriously, its all part of having a safe freindly palce with out the shouting. |

John Daley, I was involved in the committee which wrote the Standards Australia document 'guide to managing risk in motor sport'. The reason the guide is a public document was mainly due to CAMS's desire to be the 'controlling body for motor sport in Australia'. Apparently they even canvassed the major government authorities throughout the eastern states to get this status ratified. (their attempts were unsuccessful). The risk management document could easily have become the intellectual property of CAMS, and we'd all have been paying their levies! |
