I'm after info from anyone who may have it, or direct me to a source, on the following.
1967 Kawasaki A1 Samuri, 250cc two stroke, oil injected. I'll have some photo's up as soon as I can work out how to do it, but the bike is a runner, and not in bad nick for its age. It was registered and ridden daily up to about 3 years ago. Googling with these details hasn't revealed much at this stage. Just assessing details to see if its worth spending a few bob on doing it up? Cheers, Tony.

What do yu want to know Tony?
I know a bloke (ex-Kawasaki, LNC Sydney) who owned an A1, another that owned an A1R.
I rode both at racetracks around Sydney in the 70s.

Anything and everything Bummers. It actually belongs to my nephew, who is tossing up wheter to restore it. Its 100% complete, neeeds a bit of cosmetic work, runs, and might help to get him into a bit of Historic Bike stuff? OR, he may decide its all too much and let me have it, Hmwahahahaha! Cheers, Tony.

I have got two A1s in the shed. One in pretty good original condition and one that has been played with a bit. I don't want to sell them but if you need a reference point or to clarify anything I am happy to take photos, have phone conversation etc to assist. You might also want to put the Island Classic on your calendar for next year too because there is a very neat A1R coming out from the US to race at PI. And of course if you give up on your project and are looking for a home for it I would love the opportunity to talk money with you.

Dick Reid rode an A1R at Calder in the late sixties and did a fairly good lap time.

I'm pretty sure Ron Angel & Keith Turner raced a pair of A1Rs at Symmons Plains late 60s. Perhaps an ARRC round.

Thank you all. Geoff, the bike is actually my nephews and he is tossing up the options for it, including a rebuild. I am doing the proper thing and trying to disuade him, purely for ultruistic reasons only of course. He is in Adelaide so I'll let him know of your offer(s). The bike is complete, intact and running, but in need of a tidy up. Cheers, Tony. NB. We will be at the Island next January, hopefully this time we will run more than a third of a lap!

I seem to remember something about A1Rs twisting cranks due to the bevelled outside flywheels. But the fact that they have rotary disc valve motors can only be otherwise good. Asymetric timing is the way to go. Gordon Westaway (alias The Rabbit) had a 350cc Big Horn engined road racer on alcohol in the late sixties. It was competitive in A Grade against the TR3s.

A1 is a lovely bike by all means try to restore it or at least get it ridable and red plated. It will be a blast to ride. Link
