Australian born film producer Roger Donaldson confirmed this week that Oscar winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins would play the part of Burt Munro in a low budget but ambitious film 'The World's Fastest Indian'
Burt Munro raced in OZ from 1925 returning to NZ in '29.
George Begg has written an excellent book about Burt which has just about sold out of it's third reprint!
The film will be shot in the US during Sept. and in Invercargill NZ from mid-November.

I did not know how much this film meant to true riders, some of the reviews say that the story line means a lot to riders that would be if they could be! whatever that means. Hope you all go to view.

At the Warbirds over Wanaka airshow 15/16 April you can see the Indian that appeared in the film carry out a few high speed runs down the airstrip.
If you are in the SI of NZ not to be missed.

I just hope someone maybe interested - Burt Munro will be inducted into the American Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
A ceremony to honour his achievment will be held at the Museum in Pickerington Ohio on October 7.
The hall of fame was established in 1998.
Included on it are such names as Mike Hailwood and Siochiro Honda.
Munro's daughter Margaret Popenhagen says " I can just hear my father quietly chuckling. He would be quite disbelieving I think"

read an article in old pommy magazine on a letter Burt wrote to an English fan, detailing some of his achievments, what surprised me was the amount of crashes, odd broken bones, times he was concussed, mentions one bad crash resulting in headaches for 15 yrs, geezas he redefines the word keen, definately belongs in a hall of fame anywhere,
