For competitors wanting to arrive in on Thursday 29th - it's OK but please shut any gate that you have to open to get access. Pit Sheds are numbered as follows - as you drive in the top shed is A - middle is B - leaving the lower as C. Numbers start from the control tower end so A 1 / B 1 / C 1 are the sheds closest to the tower. Forecast is good at this stage. Please do not start up until 9:00am on Friday morning. For your comfort we are providing Racesafe on Friday and Sunday. Have a great weekend everyone! Regards

Have a look at the radar now Ben, Huge storm front going through the Broadford / Kilmore area as I type this. Let's hope this clears the air for the weekend! [In more ways than one] |

Good turnout for Friday practice / set up day, riders had plenty of track time. Tent city was growing by the hour! - great to see everyone again. |

Thanks Patrick; Obeservations from the Southern Classic 2005 Once again we can sit back and enjoy the results of 12 months planning to stage the 2005 event. A special thankyou to the riders and passengers who entered to ensure we had a great offering to present to the spectators. The attendance figures were slightly lower than previous years which I put down to the blocked Flowerdale road because of a road death, the British bike rally in Swan Hill and the fuel pricing. We had about 1000 specators and 500 people assosiated with teams. The dog score was 4 [ 1 with an official] on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. I can say the comments from the punters were very favourable and I believe the family atmosphere we are promoting is very effective because it was amazing to see the number of young people attending with their parents. Where else do you see this happening? I hope they are our next wave of riders. Once again we had many new spectators so I guess we only need to retain all the previous spectators for each meeting and we will need grandstands soon. The addition of a few more Trade stands near the market was popular and moves are afoot to build that area at both the Braodford meetings now. The caterers agree the Saturday evening meal needs improvement and have agreed to put a spit roast with veges and greens on in the future. More details later. We use the Apex Broadford as the gate keepers and have been training them up to allow only vehicles with car passes and riders with competitors passes to enter the pits. I noticed a number of competitors handed their passes to their mates. The time will come when you will not be able to enter the circuit or the pits without your passes despite what ever performance you put on. So I ask you respect the trust we have put in you and play the game right. Spare passes are ok to hand out, but we limit the number of car passes deliberately to keep the pits better managed and lower the dust levels. We also had officials who thought their pass was also a car pass so we shall reprint all the passes to remind you of the priveliges we have to reduce abuse. A special thanks whuich we always forget to say at the presentations goes to Patrick Fletcher and his staff for the preparation work they do to ensure we get a well presented arena. I guess it will not be long before the flower beds go in and we can have "Fashions on the Circuit"! Maybe this is not silly, can anybody help?

What a fantastic weekend! Thanks to all those who made this, my first meeting, an enjoyable and painless experience. The saga ran quite badly until some quick thinking ol'hands in the pit next to mine (Clive Harrop's Vincent mechanic/owner and the rest of his entourage) helped sort the slides for perfect running on Sunday. Thats what I love about this sport, everyone is very willing to help out no matter what you ride. My friends had a great time and were all very impressed with both the racing and the general friendly/family atmosphere, they had never been to anything like it and will be definitely returning in greater numbers next year! They took plenty of pictures that I will post both here and on "the other" site.
Excellent job everyone, and those is my class (up to 350 P/C & F/E up to 600) thanks for being gentlemen around me on the track.
I will update the saga thread with details!! |

Congratulations to all involved in running another great Southern Calssic event. The whole weekend was fantastic with great racing and no serious injuries (I think) other than dinted pride. The band pumped out plenty of great tunes with a few wobbly knees out front having a great time. Cheers Keith |

Melbourne veiwers on C31 saw about 20 minutes of the 2005 Southern Classic this evening. I looked in the TV guide and can advise that the show - Two Wheel Torque will be replayed 4:00pm 24/11 and 1:30pm 26/11 |
