In my day they were modifided road bikes triumphs 5t,6t,t100,t110 nortons es2 velo mss,kss mac,mov, douglas spitfires,dragon flies,bsa b33,b34 ,ajs ,matchless,royal enfield,aeril rh, 4square,all road bikes except for A grade and a few b grade racers, but then their were ted egans velo, frank spillers triumph, jim guildfields bsa, murry hunters specials (velo based)jeff curly bsa with brother reg,george hughs cz, m quencey bsa walsh bantam,auther pimm vincent/norton,tony mcalpine vincent hrd,ron tomms jesser triumph ,henderson matchless, art senior aeril red hunter, who were all A grades in their day.. well that how i remember racing in the classic days of 50 and 60s..
A graders norton manx,ajs 7R,matchless g45,g50,velo ktt,moto guzzie,nsu, Alan have a think wot was racing up to 1962!!here in aussie real classics.. merry xmas to all

historic racing doesn't finish in 1962, and if you reckon what's racing these days in that period bears any resemblance to what was around then, you've got rocks in your head.
Show me one copy of the guilfoyle BSA, the Henderson Matchless, Arthur Pimm's Vincent, Jeff Curley's rigid Triumph. Every bike in P3 has 18 inch wheels, and MK2 Amals. It's supposed to be 'Historic racing' not burning around on supermodified old bikes which bear no resemblance to anyhing authentic.
The original intent in 1973 was to preserve a bit of history.
Allan, I reckon my memory is a lot better than yours.
Where is the Bill Patterson CR750, or the Mussett Triumphs? That's what racing was about in the 60s (period 4) . All that stuff is so outclassed these days noone will bother to race it.

Alan I said CLASSIC racing NOT historic racing doesn't finish in 1962.. their is a difference u know up to 1962..for CLASSIC
