g'day gang, sites a bit quiet?, ergo!,Pukekohe was a biggie, over 400 bikes entered, weather was pretty kind, only rained late Sunday races, never saw so many commando's racing in one place!,Norman White n co had problems, blew headgasket, then discovered crack piston, finished motor 4am sunday, then back into it!!,(bringing spare motor next time apparently),justabout every NZ 350 twin triumph was there too,(all painted red), main race theme was the s/cars,John D would have been in heaven with this lot,a big turnout, four crews from pommyland, good lot from Oz too, kept the Kiwis honest, noisiest had to be the Konig doing parade laps, also doing parade laps was Virgil an American on i think the Reynolds framed 500/4 Honda built for, n raced by Mike Hailwood,Paul Smart on his Imola bike did a few too, also raced too,and presented trophies,Maggy Smart did the honours Sunday nites presentations (much prettier than Paul),Peter Williams (norton factory rider) did sat nite talk, amusing stories to tell, hotel streaking was one i remembered,Norman White did sunday nites do,(memory was tad blurred by then,Waikato draft to blame),did the tourist bit for a few days after races,NZ just gets better every time, well worth the effort,(yeah big deal, i can drop x valves anywhere!!)cheers
