Hi Everyone, You all must know by now that the National Titles are happening at Mac Park in November this year and the theme of the meeting is 'Sidecars'. Now I have had a few telephone conversations with people in far flung places wondering how many sidecars are going to be racing there. I know I will be there and there will be at least three from WA but I am wondering how many others are going to enter? Maybe you could all post a message in this forum letting us know if you are entering (and what Period) or if you are not entering maybe you can let us know why not? (If we know what your issues are we might be able to do consider addressing them.) Cheers Geoff Sidecar #30

Hi Geoff,
WA has at least 4 and maybe 5 sidecars going, the 4 definates are myself and Ralph Briotti in P4 and Ray Watkins and Mike Smith in P5. The other is a P4 and is a likely starter but is having teething problems with a newly recreated outfit. Hopefully we can get something positive out of this meeting and flow it on for the Island Classic. Its about time.

Well the entries are trickling in... Well done WA with your entries forming the largest state representation at the moment. We currently have 8 sidecars entered covering P3, P4 and P5 so while there is a race happening we need a lot more to make it a title race. There is only three weeks to close of entries now and while I know a lot of people like to leave it to the last minute, how about getting your entries in now so that we all know what is going on. We are waiting to be inundated... Geoff Sidecar #30 |

The entry level so far is disappointing especially with all the effort that John Daley and co have put in with the Victorians. You would think that with just a short skip across the border everyone would be there, still it is early days and riders are renowned for entering at the last minute. I know we had a huge amount of entries over the last few days when we ran them last lets hope the same applies this time. Any idea how the solo entries are going?

Currently there are around 90 solo entries. Which again can easily increase by a lot in the last couple of weeks. I guess I was hoping that we might see a field of 20 plus sidecars given what I saw at Broadford earlier in the year and heard about the Historic Winton meeting (which disappointingly I was forced to miss after my accident). I hope that they are all just slow with the paper work...

HISTORIC CHAMPIONSHIPS - THE COUNTDOWN CONTINUES.
The closing date for entries to the Australian Historic Road Racing Championships is now less than 2 weeks away. Entries close on the last mail 27th October, so it would be a good idea to get your entry in this week to make sure you don’t miss out. The organisers of the meeting will not be accepting late entries under any circumstances, entries postmarked after the 27th October will be returned.

Yippee, As of tonight [ Sunday 21 October 2006 ] we have championships for both P3 and P4 outfits, and only 2 more entries in P5 and we will have a full house of sidecars for the nationals. Now this is going to make all the effort worthwhile, well done to all those supporting the sidecars. Regards Phil Baughan

Even better now... As of tonight there are 22 sidecars entered so we will all have title races in the program. Well done everyone. But if you have not got your entry in yet you had better get moving - there is only two days to go...
See you all in November Geoff Sidecar #30 |
